📜 Origin & History

Peach Fuzz is the Pantone Color of the Year for 2024, inspired by the soft light of dawn and the delicate fuzz on peach skin. Pantone defines it as a velvety tone between pink and beige, designed to address people's deep longing for reassurance during times of global turbulence.

In terms of color lineage, Peach Fuzz continues the tradition of flesh-toned pastels from 18th-century Rococo art. The skin undertones of noblewomen in paintings by Boucher and Fragonard used similar peachy washes, conveying a languid and intimate femininity.

Mid-20th century, similar tones were popular in the dressing rooms of Hollywood's Golden Age. Makeup artists used peach-toned loose powder to set actresses' makeup, creating a hazy, dreamlike quality under soft-focus lenses, an aesthetic symbol of the transition from black-and-white to color film.

Entering the 21st century, Peach Fuzz combined with Nordic minimalist home decor, seen as a warmer evolution of Millennial Pink. It abandons the saccharine aggressiveness of neon pinks, using a greyish base to lower saturation, aligning with the modern pursuit of inner peace.

Pantone emphasized during its release that Peach Fuzz symbolizes the desire for human touch. Against the backdrop of normalized remote work and digital socialization, it attempts to use the warmth of color to compensate for the emotional deficit caused by physical distance.
