📜 Origin & History
Sangria Red is named after Spain’s national drink. Sangria originated on the Iberian Peninsula during Roman times. Romans mixed red wine and fruit into water to prevent spoilage, and the dark red of this blended drink gradually became known as Sangria.
Orchards across medieval Spain yielded abundant fruits. Red juices from citrus and pomegranate blended with local red wine, creating regional Sangria recipes. Deep red liquor steeped with fresh fruits delivered a feast for both sight and taste.
In the 19th century, Sangria travelled from rural villages into restaurants and taverns in Madrid and Barcelona. As Spanish tourism flourished, this dark red fruit wine became an essential Spanish experience for visitors.
At the 1964 New York World’s Fair, the Spanish Pavilion served Sangria to guests from all over the globe, and the dark red beverage swept across the United States overnight. Sangria Red evolved from the color of wine into a color symbol representing the Spanish way of life.
At modern summer parties, Sangria Red claims the spotlight. Deep red pitchers brimming with fruit possess inherent viral appeal on social media, becoming a hue that shares joy and sunshine.
