📜 Origin & History

Titanium Gray is directly derived from the natural color of titanium metal. The element titanium was discovered by British mineralogist William Gregor in 1791, but industrial smelting wasn't achieved until the 1940s. Its silver-gray hue and extremely light weight made Titanium Gray a symbol of aerospace materials.

During the Cold War, titanium alloys were widely used in the airframe of the SR-71 Blackbird spy plane. The silver-gray surface of this metal, capable of withstanding the heat of supersonic flight, reflected a cold light under the sun, imbuing Titanium Gray with a strong military-technological aura.

At the start of the 21st century, Titanium Gray moved from the aerospace sector into the consumer market on a large scale. High-end watches, eyeglass frames, and outdoor gear were among the first to adopt Titanium Gray, transforming its material properties of lightness, strength, and corrosion resistance into a visual symbol of understated luxury.

In recent years, Titanium Gray has been highly esteemed in Asian design circles, especially in the minimalist design streams of Japan and China. It is seen as an ideal middle color—more沉稳 (sedate) than silver and lighter than dark gray—widely used in high-end home appliances and furnishings.
