📜 Origin & History
Traffic Gray B is a deeper traffic safety color in the RAL color system than Traffic Gray A. Its original development purpose was to provide a more沉稳 (composed) backdrop than ground-level signs for underground transit spaces. The Paris Métro first used it in the 1900s as the base panel for emergency evacuation signs in tunnels.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Germany extensively used Traffic Gray B to paint signal equipment boxes and distribution cabinets when rebuilding the East-West rail network. The unified railway system adopted Traffic Gray B as the unified color language for infrastructure, symbolizing reliability and standardization.
Japan's Shinkansen introduced Traffic Gray B into the lower body paint of its trains. The deep gray treatment on the train's bottom section had a visual stabilizing effect at high speeds; Traffic Gray B became the低调 (understated) hero ensuring the aesthetic and functional unity of the trains.
In contemporary intelligent transportation systems, Traffic Gray B is the standard casing color for traffic enforcement cameras and speed detection equipment. The低调 (understated) dark gray allows enforcement devices to blend into the urban backdrop, silently守护 (guarding) public safety in an unobtrusive manner.
